YOUNA (.you) — our own universal programming language

YOUNA is our own general-purpose programming language, designed and authored by our founder Muhammad Basharat and named after his father, Muhammad Younas. It is built on one idea: the developer describes what should happen, and YOUNA determines how to execute it efficiently and safely — one language for web, desktop, mobile, AI, images, video, audio, databases, networking, blockchain and systems programming.

Source files use the .you extension. Programs are checked by a static type checker before they run, then executed by any of three engines kept in enforced parity — the AST interpreter (the reference semantics), an IR evaluator, and a JavaScript code generator that runs at native speed (~27x faster on benchmark programs). A WASM subset backend exists too, and the compiler is self-hosting — a full YOUNA compiler written in YOUNA itself.

The language is modern throughout: static types with Option<T> and Result<T,E>, string interpolation, maps, try/catch/finally and throw, modules with a standard library written in YOUNA, and automatic parallelisation — the compiler proves loops safe and runs them in parallel, plus spawn, parallel for and real OS-thread workers. A capability-based security model means file, network and device access is only possible where the program declares permission.

YOUNA is not a toy: its runtime includes real image, audio and video codecs written from scratch (BMP, PPM, WAV, Y4M), n-dimensional tensors and neural-network model stacks for AI work, SQLite and a hand-implemented MySQL wire protocol for databases, a real HTTP server, 2D and 3D software renderers, and blockchain primitives with a proof-of-work ledger and ed25519 signatures. The full toolchain ships with it — formatter, debugger, LSP, REPL, watch mode, package manager and profiler — and one codebase builds to web, Windows, Linux and macOS executables, Android APKs and iOS/iPadOS apps. Zero dependencies, zero third-party APIs.

YOUNA GFX (.gfx) — our own visual-design language

YOUNA GFX is our second own language — also authored by Muhammad Basharat — and it takes on a different problem entirely: it is a declarative visual-design language, in our words "what CSS should have been". Where CSS styles documents, a .gfx file describes an entire visual scene — multi-layered 2D compositions, real 3D worlds, geographic maps and keyframe animation, all in one readable syntax, compiled and rendered by a single engine with zero dependencies.

One paint model drives everything — solid, gradient, radial, conic, checker, stripes and noise fills work on 2D shapes and as 3D material textures through mesh UVs. The 3D side is a real renderer: built-in and glTF-imported meshes, perspective cameras, PBR-style materials (albedo/metal/roughness/emissive), ambient, directional, point and spot lights with real shadow maps, distance fog and per-pixel Blinn-Phong shading — all running on our own CPU rasterizer with z-buffering and perspective-correct interpolation.

GFX goes further than any styling language: geographic map layers project lon/lat features through equirectangular, Mercator and ortho (a spinning globe view), with graticules, markers, routes, regions, labels, great-circle arcs, procedurally-generated hillshaded terrain and data-driven styling straight from CSV or GeoJSON files. Seventeen post-effects (bloom, vignette, chromatic aberration, grain and more), motion paths, text that rides a curve, and a real font engine rendering TrueType, OpenType and WOFF glyph outlines with ligatures and kerning are all built in.

Every image codec is implemented by hand — PNG, JPEG (baseline and progressive), BMP and GIF decode; PNG, APNG, animated GIF, SVG, glTF 3D, standalone HTML player and AVI/MJPEG video export — and rendered frames feed directly into our Teleport video codec. It also ships with GFX Studio, a live visual editor: edit the source, scrub the timeline, click shapes to select them, drag to move/scale/rotate, tweak keyframes and export GIFs — all synced back into the real source file.

Younasoft — one vision, an entire ecosystem

Younasoft is our deepest engineering work — a complete software ecosystem built from the metal up. Our own programming languages, our own video codec and file format, our own blockchain and our own operating system, each engineered to work with the others, with zero external dependencies.

YOUNA is our own programming language with multiple execution engines and build targets. YOUNA Teleport is our own coded video format — a full codec with DCT and motion estimation, Huffman and range-coded entropy stages, lossless and lossy modes, B-frames and rate control, plus its own audio codec, container format and UDP streaming with forward-error correction.

YounaCoin is our own blockchain: ~3-second block times, wallets with mnemonic recovery, tokens, HTLCs, multisig, on-chain governance, a name registry, an escrowed DEX and AMM liquidity pools. YOU is our own operating system — a real kernel targeting x86 and ARM64, built and verified with our own emulator test harnesses.
